Nay, I was not, and have no idea what that is. But I looked it up. Actually, I was inspired by a drawing of a T-Rex and a little floating cloud that I made him look at which turned into dango after me thinking "cloud is stupid." And loosely, off of a homemade dango a friend of mine gave me when I was leaving Japan.
I loved them. ^_^ We weren't really sure what they were and they were selling them at the station in Shinjuku. There was a big sign with oranges on it and we were like, "What the heck?..." They were so awesome! We ate them all the time after that. ^_^
It's not really overthinking. It is my opinion that the original dango is the one on the left and the one on the right is the impostor. This means that the one on the right absorbed the original dango and is now the dango! So, really, only the first three are dango. Everything else is this new dango.
... wow. So Dangos are like Highlanders - there can be only one? It really kind of puts a new perspective on the whole series... I assumed it was the other way around, and that the original Dango was an unstoppable force of absorbiness. Not to say the new Dango can't be, either...
